Empathy VS Sympathy

Hello my lovelies!
We've started school and it's safe to say that my classes suck. Either they're full of people I don't talk to, too small or the content is driving me crazy. I'm not stressed yet (except about my books which I have ordered by won't come until another 2 weeks) and I'm trying to pace myself. However our Literature teacher decided to give us a 'anxiety session', just to get ourselves prepared, where she just went over how to deal with worrying and showed us this clip. She wants us to make school a safer environment and I love her for that, so I'm going to share it with you in hope you can make your school a safer environment too.

Better

I'm a bit late on the trend but you have to forgive me, I have an excuse! I'm starting Year 11 this year, which is the first year of preparing for the WACE exams (exams to get into Uni) and I'm scared. But then again, that's coming from a lonely teen who only cries about feeling like she didn't do well in an exam and breaks down when she's overly stressed hates school just like everyone else. I've always been ambitious so that just makes me push myself harder, and when I'm put into a room of 25 (or more) of the smartest people I know, I go crazy.

However, today is not for complaining about how badly I dislike my Chinese class or how tedious and annoying Economics seems, today I'm going to share things that I want to improve/strive for in the new year. One of which includes my attitude towards school, one of which is the main ones. So basically it's my New Years resolution, just for you!

Life Lessons 101

I realised how sentimental I am because I always think of the past or the future...
HAH! I'M SO WEIRD! I've just been watching too much KDRAMA for my own good... I finished 16 episodes in 3 days. Sometimes I don't know either to worry or pity my social life. I think I'm purposely doing this to myself because I don't know what to write for my Year 11 Councillor 'speech'. I'm stuck on ideas (help me out if you can!).

So why am I giving you advice all of the sudden? Well my dears, I've been going through an existential crisis and have realized that I should probably talk about how you should deal with it rather than just ranting on to you guys. When we're swimming in a sea of sorrow, we have to learn how to stay afloat!

How to: Dealing with Failure

I'm sure every one of us has our ups and our downs, however always seem to remember/think more about the negatives. We are such strange beings... with sometimes a really negative mind-set, which is quite saddening because we have so much in our lives we can do and too many of up spend it over sadness. I've just been through exam time and am still going through multiple big assessments so I'm quite familiar with the feeling. I don't know if I have a psychological problem but, I'm so annoyingly sentimental. I get bummed over things I don't care about simply because I feel like I failed and being an Asian at an academic/competitive school with 99% of it being Asian, failure isn't even meant to be in my vocabulary.

The mind set in our school is horrible because we all want to succeed and everyone just starts to talk any one who "fails" (i.e. does really great but at as good as the person) down. Honestly, I hate it at our school because I've forgotten what it's like not to worry so much over such tiny things and actually have fun for a day. We were selecting subjects for next year and when I told this girl that I wasn't taking Physics, she laughed at me and said I'm never going to be a doctor (in the most serious Asian way ever). Sometimes my school just makes me feel like I do nothing right so for anyone out there feeling the same, here are some ways to deal with failure [how hypocritical of me as I don't actually remember half of these]:
